3 Ways to Organize Baking Supplies
This week’s organizing task is BAKING SUPPLIES (October’s cleaning and organizing calendar is here). Now is a great time to take inventory of you baking supplies before the busy holiday season is upon us. This week I’m sharing 3 ways that I organize my baking supplies and keep them organized. Don’t make it too complicated, just take a little time this week to toss/relocate/organize any baking supplies that you have and make sure your solutions will be helpful when it comes time to do some baking.
ESTABLISH A BAKING ZONE – Keep baking supplies in the same general vicinity in your kitchen – I keep the mixer, spices, and baking supplies in the same area of the kitchen. When it’s time to bake, I pull out the mixer, gather ingredients and tools and get started.
Keep baking pans, baking sheets, and racks together as well – keeping these supplies handy makes baking so much easier.
KEEP MEASURING CUPS AND SPOONS TOGETHER – I keep them together in their narrow drawer but you could keep them together in a drawer divider with other baking and cooking supplies. Suggestion: if you do a lot of cooking and baking, purchase a couple extra measuring spoon and cup sets. I also have odd sized measuring cups (3/4 cup, 1 1/2 cup and 2 cup) and spoons (2 teaspoons, 1 1/2 teaspoons) – may seem odd, but it’s a time saver in the kitchen.
GROUP BAKING GOODS – I store other baking supplies and goods together in a large bin in the pantry. Molasses, extra sugars, cane syrup, chocolate chips, baking chocolate, etc. is stored together keeping it easy to grab anything necessary for baking.

Love your spices! I have a variety of sizes and brands of spices so, even when neatly distributed, there is a sense of being disorganized. When they are all the same size and brand they can either be alphabetized or put in groups of the kinds (i.e. pie baking, Italian cuisine, barbecue etc) for convenience. Looks great. 🙂

You might like a spicy shelf it holds all the small jars on a top shelf and is u shaped so you can see your spices. It’s great for fingernail polish bottles in your vanity cabinet too. You can get them at Walgreen’s and many other places.

I love the Pampered Chef adjustable measuring cups-I keep those in my flour, sugar, brown sugar, etc. containers so I can adjust it, use it, and be done with it until I need it again (no cross contamination-because I’m only using that cup for ingredient it is stored with..). When I was the storage container, I wash the measuring cup in there.

This post was the spur I needed to start organizing my pantry. Accomplished this past week was using small plastic bins to neatly corral like items in the cupboards; organizing my spices so they became elevated in three tiers making them easier to find with each jar getting an appropriately label; and taking my jumble of baking pans that normally resided in the roasting tray under the stove and standing them on end in a narrow pantry cabinet to make them easier to access. Today I’ll be reorganizing the rolling kitchen cart to make better use of the storage space underneath. Thanks!

I Love the idea of putting all the baking supplies together. I’ve always disbursed them with other items in the kitchen. This would make baking so much easier! I love Penzey’s spices too 🙂

I love having the odd sized measuring cups. I got a kit of spoons and cups from Amazon earlier this year and it came with some weird sizes. My favorite is the 2-cup measuring cup. I mean, who only uses a cup of flour when you make cookies? 2 cup is much better. 🙂
I use Penzey’s as well. Not only because their spices are the best, but because they look tidy in the cabinet.
You helped me organize my spice cabinet and it looks awesome. Thank you Becky.

Where do you find the clear shelf/drawer liner? I have tried a shelf liner that tends to get bunched up, it drives me nuts!

What are the small trays called that are labeled ‘baking’ and ‘cooking’?

Post authorThey’re just large plastic trays with sides – I think I got them from Target a couple years ago.
