The following is an excerpt from Chapter 3 in Simply Clean:

(THURSDAY) DAY 5: FLOOR WASHING

Once your floors are vacuumed and all those edges are clean, it’s time to give them a little love. When you vacuumed thoroughly yesterday you prepped them for washing today. If you know that your baseboards could use a little love today as well, you can wash them right alongside the floors. Today we’re going to concentrate on washing all the hard-surface floors in your home. I’m guessing you have a favorite floor cleaner and floor tool—grab your favorites and get started!

I have found that a couple methods work really well when it comes to floor washing. Every once in a while, the floors need an old-fashioned, hands-and-knees washing. Depending on the time you want to invest and if you prefer washing your floors this way, you might want to go all out today. If not, simply wash them with your favorite method and tools. Start at the back of each room, in the corner farthest away from the door, and wash from left to right, washing your way out of the room. Wash every single hard-surface floor, including the laundry room, bathrooms, entryway, and living areas.

Washing floors is one of the most gratifying homekeeping tasks there is—don’t you just love clean, shiny floors? Spend a little extra time for a deep cleaning. The hard work will be totally worth it!

Here’s how the challenge is going to work – every day for 7 days (March 12-18) you’ll have an assigned task to complete – you’ll see that the tasks semi-mirror my cleaning routine. Once you’ve completed the 7 tasks, you’ll be ready to continue with the Simply Clean Method as you move forward. I’ll be sharing the daily tasks on social media and back on this blog post.
