A Simplified Week : Decorations
As part of Start Here. I’m going to be posting a weekly recap each week on Fridays or Saturdays. I’ll be giving you a couple ideas (mostly simple and easy to implement) for the week’s focus and a few ideas from the web that I’ve enjoyed over the week. I hope you like this feature as much as I do. Happy Weekending!
Decorations:
- The thought of throwing away all those sweet smiling faces and meaningful Christmas cards makes me a bit sad. Check out these holiday card storage solutions if you aren’t quite ready to part with them. Via Organizing Junkie
- Rethink how you store your holiday decorations with these 10 tips and methods for keeping them tidy and organized. Via Apartment Therapy
- Leanne has some great ideas for organizing Christmas decorations – I especially love her trick for keeping them all straight. Via Organize and Decorate Everything
- Clever! Use under-the-bed organizers to store ornaments and other decorations. They are easier to store than giant totes and are often pre-divided to keep things separate. Via The Organised Housewife
- I’m sure you’ve seen this floating around the web, but it’s such a great idea! To protect those super fragile and precious ornaments, store them individually in cups affixed to cardboard. No chance of them bumping and banging in to one another and breaking this way. Via Martha Stewart
To Simplify:
- Have a goal to drink your recommended 8 glasses of water? Keep on track with one of these cute (and free!) printables – pop it on your fridge and drink up! Via Clean Mama
Something To Eat:
- This ultimate comfort food combo of soup and chicken pot pie sounds like the perfect weekend night meal to me. Via Life in Grace
Something for the Kids:
- With a little glue, scissors and notebook paper, construct the sweetest DIY Valentines treat bag. I know my daughter is going to be all over this one! Via White Gunpowder
Something to Make:
- I love making breakfast as easy and healthy as possible. Check out these homemade instant oatmeal packets with a multitude of flavor options for your family. Beats the grocery store ones with the added sugar and preservatives. Via The Yummy Life

I love the idea of placing ornaments in cups that are glued to cardboard. I’ve been using the under the bed storage for our ornaments for as long as I can remember but this year I thougt to myself, I REALLY need to come up with a solution for protecting them. Some are breakable so just laying them on top of each other is an accident waiting to happen. I will try shorter cups and just glue them to the bottom and see how that works. Thanks!
