Clean + Organized – Favorite Resources
Surfing the web, looking for ideas on Pinterest is great fun, but I love sitting on the couch with a glossy home decorating magazine or a motivational homekeeping or organizing book too. Here are my five absolute favorite organizing and homekeeping books (I usually check them out first from the library and if they are purchase-worthy, they make it to my bookcase).

I love absolutely everything by Sandra Felton. All her books are fantastic. There’s also a book called, I think, “Organizing for the Creative Mind” (it’s still in a box, we just moved a couple of months ago). It was really eye-opening for me with some of the “Whys” that traditional organizing methods don’t work for me. I’ve always hated filing cabinets, and never really knew why (always attributed it to me being lazy or something), but they are so non-visual… it’s like the filing cabinet EATS the papers. Once they’re in that dark place, they’re gone for good! (At least to the predominantly right-brained person! lol) That really helped in a lot of ways. We’ve gone to almost exclusively clear bins for storage, and it has helped SO much. I can’t remember who it’s by, though.

I love my copy of “How to Clean just about Anything” by Jeff Bredenberg. The description on the cover says it all “Faster, Easier, Better Ways to Clean your Home and Everything in It!”

I like TALKING DIRTY WITH THE QUEEN OF CLEAN by Linda Cobb, TOTALLY TOGETHER, by Stephanie O’Dea, and PRETTY NEAT by Alicia Rockmore and Sarah Welch. I have Organized Simplicity on my Kindle but haven’t read it yet. I am almost done reading THE GOOD WIFE’S GUIDE by Darlene Schacht which has been good so far.

I really like Real Simple Cleaning frOm Real Simple Magazine. It’s heavy duty wire bound and all the page can be wiped off if they get messy. A great reference for the beginner!

Sink Reflections by the FlyLady, Marla Cilley is wonderful! But, I love several of the others mentioned, as well.

Green Clean by Linda Mason Hunter and Mikki Halpin! Great ways to make homemade cleaning solutions for almost every surface, plus ways to keep up with each room (and of course why so many cleaning products are not good for you or the earth!)
