Cleaning Month – Refrigerator

Refrigerator day is here – I purposely planned this when my refrigerator was most likely to be the most empty – Friday (menu plan/shop day).
I added a new kit to my CleanMamaPrintables shop – perfect for grocery shopping….
The Grocery Shopping Kit

On to the day’s task – let’s make this real simple….
throw away anything old or expired
take everything out -this is my before (not too bad because I do this with my cleaning schedule)
spray down the inside of refrigerator – make sure that you are using something non-toxic because this comes in contact with your food
wash drawers, bins, shelves in warm, soapy water – dry completely
put everything back and admire your work
How do you clean out your refrigerator? Any special tips to keeping it clean?

I love to keep my fridge clean with baby wipes. They are readily on hand for me and I can easily grab one and clean whatever mess I see. Nice and easy for me! supersara85@hotmail.com

I always love giving the fridge a nice cleaning! I usually try to throw out anything that is old or expired on leftovers night (which is usually once a week on Thursday) then when there is an almost empty fridge I quickly wipe down the shelves and drawers. I do a bigger washing of shelves in the tub, a few times a year. I love the feeling of a nice clean freshly washed refrigerator!

I have a phobia of yucky fridges. I actually rarely ‘deep clean’ it because I tend to wipe it down and straighten it as I go. This sounds simple, but we make it a point to eat leftovers regularly. Less waste and never mystery containers. Going through it often also helps me wipe it down and straighten things immediately.

My tip for keeping the refrigerator clean is to not put open cups in there. We used to save the half drunk cup of milk from the kids breakfast for lunch, etc., but then it kept spilling and making a mess. I decided to save my sanity and just pour less at each meal, and then I don’t have any open cups to save in there to spill over everything.
