DIY Cleaners : All-Purpose Spray
This week I’ll be sharing my 3 favorite DIY recipes for spring cleaning. It’s spring cleaning season and you need a go-to all-purpose spray to clean all those spots on your checklist. I promise you this All-Purpose Spray recipe is the perfect clean just-about-anywhere spray. Want the kids to help? Hand them a bottle of this. Not to be used on marble or granite (because of the white vinegar).
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 10 drops of your favorite essential oil (lemon and clove is my favorite blend)
Mix in a spray bottle, spray liberally on surfaces and wipe clean with a soft cleaning cloth (I prefer microfiber).
You can find the aqua microfiber cl0ths here and if you’d rather purchase this recipe (with up to 7 others) already on an adorable label with or without a glass spray to store it in – look no further than Clean Mama Home:

I love the DIY house cleaners. It’s always nice to really know what goes into what you are spraying or using in your house. I have also heard that adding a little alcohol like vodka or just rubbing alcohol helps with killing bacteria. Have you heard this and if so what are your thoughts on this? I was thinking about trying it but not sure that it will really help.

Does this one not disinfect as well as the one with vodka?
Becky Says
Post authorNo, this is for cleaning, not disinfecting 🙂

I was finally able to purchase a bottle of Clove EO. I can see why lemon and clove is your favorite blend? I made your sink cleaner and used it to clean my sink. I absolutely loved the smell when I opened the container that I have it in.

I just made more of the lemon & lavender bathroom spray, all purpose wipes and for the first time I made the hand sanitize (spray and gel). I really like knowing what is going into the products and my cat who is very sensitive to strong scents loves it also.

can ya use vinegar on unfinished wood floors
Becky Says
Post authorI wouldn’t, it’s too acidic without a polyurethaned coating.

I’m new to homemade cleaners and I am liking it so far. Is there an issue with adding a little extra essential oil to the recipe to boost the scent?
Becky Says
Post authorThere shouldn’t be 🙂

We have hard water. I can never get the toilet bowl clean. I have used everything from hard chemicals to vinegar and borax…
Any suggestions?

Should I use distilled water or is my tap water ok to use in the recipe?
