Soft Cleaning Paste - the perfect scrub - Clean Mama

I’ve been sharing my favorite DIY Cleaners for spring cleaning this week and I just LOVE this soft cleaning paste. It is perfect for bathrooms, tubs, tile, faucets….anywhere you need a little paste to get rid of soap scum, water spots, and just plain old dirt.

PLEASE NOTE : If you want to store this recipe (that’s what I do) make sure that you are mixing it up a little on the drier/ not liquid-y side. If it’s too runny, it will expand inside the container when it’s drying.

SOFT CLEANING PASTE

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup washing soda
  • 1 teaspoon citric acid (preservative)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons castile soap or dish soap
  • 10- 20 drops essential oils ( I use lemon and peppermint)
  • 1/2-3/4 cup white vinegar (depending on desired consistency – do not go over 3/4 cup)

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. Add soap and essential oils and carefully add 1/2 cup of white vinegar (it will bubble a bit). Mix thoroughly and add up to 1/4 cup more vinegar if you want more of a sauce than a paste. Store in a sealed container – it should last at least a month in a cool dark place. Scoop out a tablespoon or two and apply with a sponge or a scrub brush and scrub away. Rinse thoroughly.
