Even if the rest of the house is a mess, I always try to end the day with a clean kitchen sink. If you feel overwhelmed or frustrated with the state of your home, START WITH YOUR KITCHEN SINK. You’ll also be building a little habit that will follow you into the next day – when you wake up to a clean kitchen sink, your tomorrow self will thank you.
I’ve found that this little routine makes me slow down, relax and enjoy the moment in time. The smell of the lemon and clove, a little scrubbing, and the sound of water rinsing the sink can be relaxing if I slow down enough to be in that moment.
Nightly Sink Scrub Recipe
- 2 cups baking soda
- 10 drops lemon essential oil + 10 drops clove essential oil (can be substituted or omitted) – the Cozy Home Blend in the shop is Lemon + Clove
- castile soap (or dish soap)
- container with a lid or a shaker top
- sink safe scrub brush – I keep it under my sink in a vintage mason jar. I can toss the head in the dishwasher to sanitize it as needed.
This little recipe will change your evening kitchen routine for the better. The best thing? It works on ANY sink type! Porcelain, stainless steel, acrylic, copper, stone, solid surface – scrub away!
