It’s the Little Things # 1
One of my favorite things about blogging is the connections I make with readers. Even though the internet can be sort of isolating, I want to invite you in a bit and share some of my favorite things. I’m going to share some favorites from the week with you – it might be a quote, a print, what I’m reading, a favorite podcast, a playlist, a recipe, a helpful tip, a cleaning product, or something I added to our home. Basically if it’s something little that I feel is shareable or if it’s something I’d bring up to a friend over coffee or on the phone, I’m probably going to share it with you here. I hope you enjoy the little things – they’ll be coming to you weekly over the summer (maybe longer).
I’m more of a non-fiction and magazine reader but I love a good ‘beach’ book, especially in the summer. All the fictional, light books I’ve read lately are by Jenny Colgan, I just love her style. On my bookstand now is this one. (If you haven’t read her bakery series, I highly recommend it!)
We have a newer, very nice mattress and while we love it, both my husband and I found that when we were on vacation a month or so ago, we slept better and didn’t wake up sore with the hotel’s cushy mattress. So I did what any bedding-obsessed person would do, I researched the hotel’s protocol for bedding and found out that they use a down mattress topper under the sheet. I set out to find something that would fit our needs and settled on this one – a 2 inch mattress topper and let me tell you, it’s revolutionized our sleep. I put it under the mattress pad and then put the fitted sheet on top of the mattress pad and it’s great! I highly recommend it if you need a little more softness when you sleep.
I’m so excited about this little thing…we went down from 3 types of glasses to 2 types of glasses. We had 3 different sizes and I just decided that we needed to simplify our glasses and it’s been great. (It’s the little things…) I grabbed these working glasses at Crate & Barrel but you can also find them on Amazon – here are the smaller, 14 oz ones and the larger, 21 oz ones and a package of both sizes. Definitely get the lids – they’re great for half-finished drinks!
Last thing…do you follow me on Instagram? I have a little contest going on on this post for people that leave an Amazon review on my book Simply Clean. If you haven’t read it, it’s a life and habit changing kind of book. The contest ends next Wednesday – time to grab it and get started!

Hi, Becky,
I love your idea of sharing more about yourself through your “little things”. I really like your blog. In fact, your blog is the only one that I read as I feel very limited on time. Thanks for writing your blog and sharing!

My Great-Grandmother slept on a feather mattress topper (tick). I’m sure that I can find one that is hypoallergenic, too. We are having issues with our memory foam mattress topper now.

I love this post! I’m looking forward to more of these in the future. I was just about to head to the library so I am going to see if they have that book (or the bakery series). Thanks!

Thank you for the book recommendation! I am running out of the series I am in. Debbie Macomber’s Bollsom Street book series as WELL AS the Cedar Cove series are so addicting! Loved them! Must reads.

You would probably enjoy reading Karen Swann. Her books are a light read but engaging.

Such a great idea Becky! Another good feature of the glasses you mention is that they are made in the USA. All my kitchenware (plates, utensils, glassware, etc) are now made in the USA. It gives me better peace of mind and also supports domestic businesses.

I so enjoyed your book! I’ve been a housewife for 38 years but never could get in a routine that worked consistently. I’m so thankful for your routine that really works and is easy to continue! I’m also enjoying your blog! Never too old to learn! (:
