It’s the Little Things #46
Happy Friday! Here are my favorites from the week with you – it might be a quote, a print, what I’m reading, a favorite podcast, a playlist, a recipe, a helpful tip, a cleaning product, or something I added to our home. Basically if it’s something little that I feel is shareable or if it’s something I’d bring up to a friend over coffee or on the phone, I’m probably going to share it with you here. Here’s a link to all of the posts in this series.

I cannot believe we’re already at the end of May and entering Memorial Day Weekend. My kids still have a couple weeks of school left, but we’re in the home stretch – the end is in sight! To kick off the Memorial Day Weekend I have a little sale in Clean Mama Home – use the code STARSANDSTRIPES for 10% off your entire order PLUS free shipping on orders $125+! The sale ends Monday, May 27th at 11:59PM CST – don’t miss it!
Clean Mama Home UPDATE: Microfiber is completely sold out in the shop (there’s some on Amazon still here), if you want to be the first to know when the new microfiber arrives – it’ll be out this summer, here’s a link to be notified first. My Homekeeping Planner is also sold out for 2019 BUT 2020 will be releasing in late August/early September – sign up here to be notified first!
I haven’t officially introduced my Laundry Super Powder but it’s in the shop and it’s amazing! It’s enzyme-powered which means it gets out the toughest stains and smells – even those workout clothes smells! If you’re thinking that it’s not going to work because it’s ‘natural’ and ‘safe’, think again – it has been independently tested and removes stains better than the orange brand. Pair it with Oxygen Whitener and Wool Dryer Balls for the ultimate non-toxic and safe laundry experience!
If you have kids ending school you most likely have backpacks and lunch boxes that need to be was he. This post details HOW I wash the backpacks and lunch boxes. Tip: do it now so you don’t have to think about it this summer.
Earlier this week I shared my summer book stack but I also thought you’d like to see someone else’s summer book guide. Do you follow Modern Mrs. Darcy? I love her reading guides – she always has the best recommendations and reviews. Here’s her 2019 Minimalist Summer Reading Guide and 20 Hot New Releases Everyone Will Be Talking About. She also has an extensive newsletter Summer Reading Guide if sign up for her email list (totally worth it).
I put this salad recipe from Ambitious Kitchen on my menu for next week – Famous Crunchy Cashew Thai Quinoa Salad. It’s great for meal prep – hello lunches – or for making earlier in the day for dinner that night.
What have you been enjoying this week? Have plans for the weekend? Any little things to share?

Does your laundry soap and whitener dissolve in cold water? Does the whitener help with stains on colored clothes or is it only for white clothes? Also, I am having a really hard time with oil stains such as salad dressing and cooking oil. I have tried dish soap , but is not working. Do you have any suggestions for getting those stains out?
Thank you!
Kimberly

Post authorBoth work/dissolve in cold water – my preference is warm with a cold rinse. I use the whitener with all colors as needed and with every white load. To get stains out I wet the stain and apply little powder and work it into the stain. Then I let it sit for a bit or overnight and then launder as usual. If you are unsure about a color I always recommend spot testing the whitener first.

Do you know how your detergent and brightener compare to Nellie’s? I recently switched to that brand and their wool balls and have been pleased, but maybe I’d like yours even more!

Post authorThe ingredients in both are a little different – the main difference in the laundry soap is that mine has enzymes that will really get rid of those pesky odors and stains. It’s the best laundry soap I’ve ever used – give it a try!
