It’s the Little Things #8
Happy Friday! Here are a few little things I’m enjoying this week. I’m going to share some favorites from the week with you – it might be a quote, a print, what I’m reading, a favorite podcast, a playlist, a recipe, a helpful tip, a cleaning product, or something I added to our home. Basically if it’s something little that I feel is shareable or if it’s something I’d bring up to a friend over coffee or on the phone, I’m probably going to share it with you here. I hope you enjoy the little things – they’ll be coming to you weekly over the summer (maybe longer). Here’s a link to all of the posts in this series.
The last couple weeks have been busy trying to squeeze every last drop out of summer before the kids go back to school. We’ve been mixing fun with a little bit of organizing, cleaning, and prepping for the next season. What does this look like? Stocking the freezer, cleaning out closets, switching out clothes, running to Goodwill and checking the calendar for all those fall activities.
I posted a little video in my Instagram Stories earlier this week with some ground beef cooking and there were so many questions about it so I thought I’d answer a little bit here and then I’ll do a post in the next week or so about batch cooking. As a quick tip you can use right now, if you see ground beef or ground turkey on sale, grab a couple packages (or do what I do and grab 6 pounds) and scramble it up with onion, salt and pepper. I drain and rinse the meat (if it’s greasy), check the seasoning, let it cool, and split it up into containers for the freezer. I use this as a quick meal components for tacos, enchiladas, burrito bowls, spaghetti, lasagna… I just take it out of the freezer the night before I need it and let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Then I add it to whatever sauce I need it for and cook as I normally would – easy peasy!
I grabbed this Full Circle cast iron pan brush from Amazon a few weeks ago and am loving it! I still use this method for cleaning my cast iron pan but this super sturdy brush makes it a snap! Do you cook in a cast iron pan (this is the one I have)? I love it!
I love this Walt Whitman quote spotted from 1canoe2’s Instagram feed….puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
What have you been enjoying this week? Any little things to share?
