It’s the Little Things #84
Happy Friday! It’s time for some little things from this week. My hope is that these posts spark a little something with you, give you an idea or solve a problem. It might be a quote, a print, what I’m reading, a favorite podcast, a playlist, a recipe, a helpful tip, a cleaning product, or something I added to our home. Basically if it’s something little that I feel is shareable or if it’s something I’d bring up to a friend over coffee or on the phone, I’m probably going to share it with you here. Here’s a link to all of the posts in this series.
It’s been a week! Anyone else need new appliances while under quarantine? Our refrigerator and oven both started acting up this winter and we finally got the replacements this week. We ended up taking out the bookshelf around the previous refrigerator (something we have wanted to do for some time) and put in a built-in fridge. This space was intended for a built-in but the previous owners put in the bookcase instead – I loved it but I love the refrigerator more. I am a cookbook collector so this was great while it lasted.
Here’s the before:
The middle:
We pulled out the bookcase – it was barely attached so this was something we could do ourselves. I went through my cookbooks and kept the best ones and put the cookbooks in upper cabinets to the left and then the favorites in vintage French apple basket on the counter.
And the after:
We’ve been doing a lot of home improvements this winter and spring – would you be interested in a little home tour?

I’m a bit of a cookbook collector as well. Where did you put all your cookbooks (besides the basket on the counter)? Did you purge any?
Clean Mama Says
Post authorI put some in the cabinet to the left, I have a small bookcase in the island that has some and I purged some as well. I’ll do a post detailing cookbooks soon!

Yes, please, would love a home tour. I love that you have natural woodgrain cabinets, not painted cabinets. Your kitchen is so warm and inviting!

I totally want a home tour! We are building a new house, and we are going with the Kitchenaid built-in, but we went with the panel ready one. I want to see a post on all the things refrigerator. There’s really nothing online about these fridges that I could find. 🙂
Beth Ann Dick Says
I love the new refrigerator! We had other appliances the last time around and gradually have had to replace… our new KitchenAid dishwasher has the smudge-free/fingerprint free finish and I LOVE it. Just a wet cloth shines it up when there’s a drip mark – no need for stainless steel spray or wipes anymore!
Fatima Says
Would love a house tour!
Jeanine Says
House tour, please! The floors!
Jessica Says
Yes please on the home tour. I love the basket with cookbooks! I recognize the Back in the Day bakery book! Also, Kitchenaid is a wonderful company with the best customer service!
