I’m not into artificial scents, so I don’t have plug-in air fresheners or room sprays, but I do make a little simmering air freshener from time to time. The ingredients are usually dependent on what I have on hand and what I feel like smelling for the day. This is a perfect homey goodness “project” because it warms the smell of the house up and gives that inviting scent of home cooking.
This can be done in a mini crockpot or a pan on the stove on very low heat (watch for the water to evaporate and add more as needed).

Here are some ingredients that you can use:
  • water (at least 4 cups)
  • 3+ cinnamon sticks
  • whole or powdered nutmeg
    • 10-12 whole cloves or powdered cloves
    • dash of vanilla extract
    • orange and /or lemon peel
Combine ingredients in saucepan and let simmer.
