If you’re looking for a little luxury in the bathroom, you’ll love my favorite face cloths and storage solution. It’s inexpensive but feels a little bit special and luxurious. I buy a couple packages of these wash cloths at Target (they’re under $3 for 6 washcloths). I find them on an end cap, usually by the college stuff. You could use a color or find them at another store – the distinguishing feature is that they don’t have any trim on them – they’re just sewn around the edges and they are very thin.
Then I put them in a small wire basket and keep it on the counter by the sink. Every night I use a cloth to take my makeup off and wash my face. Not only do they dry quickly but they wash up beautifully. No more makeup on your ‘good’ wash cloths. I wash them on hot right along with our other white bath towels with Laundry Detergent Spray and Oxygen Whitener.
How do I keep the makeup from staining the white wash cloths?
I rinse them thoroughly after I use them and this takes care of most of the makeup. I also find that by washing them on warm/hot and with Oxygen Whitener gets the rest out.
How do I deal with the wet face cloths?
I use one face cloth at night and I let it hang over our tub faucet until it’s dry and then I just toss it in the towel basket.
How long do they last?
I use them for a couple years – I’ve purchased three times and only repurchase when the cloths are dingy and need to be replaced. They make good rags if you want to upcycle them for another use!

Do you purchase the small or medium size wire basket on Amazon? Your article refers to small but the link leads to the medium size. Thanks!

I’ve used those Target facecloths for years – they’re better than any other facecloths I’ve ever had.

These are great, I agree! Years ago hospitals used real washcloths. My dad was in the VA hospital and my mom appropriated a lot of them. I know, not cool. But I did find they were awesome for faces! I buy them at Target now and there’s one plus – once they get raggedy I use them as cleaning rags. I really hate washing my face with the wash cloths that come in towel sets. Once wet they weigh a ton and are hard for my old arthritic hands to wring.

I have bought these washcloths for probably 6 years. Unfortunately they are now made with 13% polyester. I haven’t found anything like these that are 100% cotton.
