My Kitchen Sink Set-Up
Whenever I post an image of my kitchen sink I get a lot of questions on the different items. I thought I’d share my kitchen sink routine and favorite products all in one post. Good products and an effective system definitely make even the most mundane tasks a little more enjoyable, don’t you think?
Let’s start with the sink
It’s an undermount double stainless steel sink from Kohler. When I ordered it I was able to order the rack that fits inside the sink. I love this feature – it lets dishes dry easily but isn’t bulky. The faucet is the Kohler Vinnata Sink Faucet – we love it!
Nightly Sink Scrub
My favorite way to clean the sink is with my Nightly Sink Scrub. If you are new here and haven’t seen this part of my daily routine, check out this post for all the details. It will change your evening kitchen routine for the better.
The premise is that every night we reset the kitchen, put the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe up the counters and finally sprinkle a little sink scrub in the sink and give it a little scrub.
Scrub, scrub, scrub
I prefer to use the dishwasher for most dishes, pots, and pans, but I do have a couple that aren’t dishwasher safe. For those I use a scrub brush. I use this one for all dishes, pots, and pans and this one for my cast iron. I use this wand cleaner for delicate glassware. I keep the scrub brushes under the sink in a jar but I keep the daily dish scrub brush in this holder.
Sink side necessities
I like using a sink side tray to corral hand soap, dish soap, and countertop spray. This keeps these items from dripping on the counters and it keeps everything in one neat and tidy place. You can find the pictured items in my shop – spray bottle, pump, labels, and sink side tray.
Clean counters
I use bar mop towels in place of paper towels to wipe counters daily. I keep them in a covered glass jar on the counter so they’re handy. I use my DIY granite spray daily as I clean up the counters after meals and as needed.
Window sill
I mix up what’s on the window sill from time to time, usually with the seasons. Right now I have a few vintage canning jars and two jade plant succulents. The canning jars can easily be found at antique stores and thrift markets and the artificial jade plants are from here.

You mention that it’s personal preference between the bar towel and the microfiber towel for cleaning the kitchen. I’ve been using the microfiber for about 3 yrs now. If you’re using bar towels to clean the kitchen counters, what are you using the microfiber for? Just curious.

Post authorI use microfiber for dusting, bathrooms, and many other cleaning tasks.

I would think it would be awkward to store bar mop towels in a jar with a lid. In my household i can picture my husband (or brother, neighbor, guest, etc.) asking where the paper towels are when they have dirty or wet hands. I can imagine gesturing towards a lidded jar full of towels! Awkward and impractical, but nice looking.

Post authorWe use hand towels for drying hands – I store the bar mop towels in the jar for cleaning the counters 🙂
Terryanne Says
Hi! Do you wet the bar mop towels before wiping the counter or just wipe the granite cleaner with a dry towel? Thanks! I love your content!!
b r Says
Post authorI use them barely damp and spray but you can experiment and see what works best for you!
Terryanne Says
Thank you! I use wash clothes for wiping my granite counters and usually wet them to wipe away the spray but then I feel like there’s too much water. 🤪 I’ll try the damp cloth. Thanks for sharing!! 😁

Lovely set up! Once you used your bar mop towel and it is damp, do you hang it on the edge of the sink to dry and use again later in the day, or does it go straight into the laundry? I often struggle with this as then we have a dirty wet one that I don’t want to reuse, but I do t want to throw a wet towel into the laundry (ew) so having a towel hanging out drying before throwing in the laundry always icks me out.

Post authorI use it for the day and then put it on a hook under the sink to dry before tossing it in the laundry.

Hi!
How do you clean your sink rack? I have one in my sink, and I have a hard time keeping it clean. Thanks!
b r Says
Post authorI put it in the dishwasher 🙂

Thanks for this post! Always such great content! I wish I had your windowsill! Jealous!
The nightly sink scrub is a game changer! I didn’t notice how dirty my sink was each day until I started doing that last year. It’s a wonder we weren’t ill before! And it’s sooo clean now! I love it!
With regards to the bar mop towels, in an effort to be more green, I simply removed the paper towel roll from our kitchen. We are relatively minimalist, so I don’t keep much on our counters, but for those opposed to the jar of towels, an alternative would be to keep them in a drawer near the sink. I do this with bar mop towels and everyone in our house knows where they are. It’s been no trouble. I keep a fresh hand towel out for wiping hands as well.
Any chance your beautiful sink tray set will ever come with a foaming pump? Thanks! 🙂

Post authorThanks Mindy! I’m working on getting other options for the pumps 🙂

Where did you buy the brushed metal basket? It’s suction cupped to the side of your sink for your cleaning brush.

Post authorTarget! It’s linked in the bottom of the post.

On average how long do you keep your dish brushes before replacing them? Do you do anything to sanitize them especially if you use them to clean the sink?
b r Says
Post authorOn average would be 2-3 months – I sanitize them in the dishwasher/upper rack.

Where is your dish soap dispenser from? And does it work well? I have had issues with dispensers like that before and the dish soap not coming out well.
Brandi Belz Says
Where did you get your dish soap dispenser, what is in the spray bottle, and where did you get the bottle fir the hand soap? Sorry for the questions, but we finally have our own home and I need help getting our home together. Thank you!
