Quick Tip – Slow Watering Your Plants
I love this trick – maybe you do this already and I was just under a rock for the last decade. I saw this on a florist card and have been tending to my houseplants this way for a few months and am loving it! This works especially well in pots that don’t have built in drainage.
Do you see the ice cubes in the planter?
Put a few ice cubes in your houseplants for the weekly watering – no spilling, no leaking out the bottom, and your littles can even do it for you!

This is the BEST TIP! Thank you so so much, Becky! Now if I can just remember to refill the ice cube trays regularly…;)

Brilliant! Now I can in good conscience go buy some house plants! I so dislike watering indoor pants because of spillage, but no longer! Yay! Thanks 🙂

Becky have you noticed that the cold is too shocking to the plants? That would be my only worry. I have some small orchids and don’t want to kill them (although likely they will succumb to my black thumb anyway). Thanks for the wonderful idea.

It won’t shock them because the ice melts slowly. I have done it to many plants like orchids and peace lily. They seem to appreciate it. Hope this helps in your decision on trying it or not. Happy Gardening.

My cat would be licking the ice cubes. rofl! That’s like ice cream to her. I can fire up the ice maker and she comes a running!
