Simplify the Season : 3 Steps to a Simple Christmas Mantel
Need to put together a Christmas-y mantel in a hurry or just want to keep things simple this season? Here are 3 steps to a simple Christmas mantel:
USE REMOVABLE HOOKS. Holiday decorations are temporary – take advantage of the great options on the market and use them. I love these Command Strips from 3M. The clear ones with the wire hooks are my favorites because they are almost invisible and you can flip the hooks.
USE WHAT YOU HAVE. Incorporate other items that you have on your mantel into your seasonal mantel decorating. It keeps things easy for setting up and taking down and just makes it easier.
CHOOSE A SIMPLE COLOR SCHEME – I chose red, aqua, and green. Choose your color scheme according to decorations that you already have and put them into place. If you look at my fall mantel you’ll notice that I have a couple pieces that get filled with seasonal decor but are mainstays. I love how easy this makes it to switch out decor.
This post is part of a series designed to help you Simplify the Season. You can see all the posts here.

Love that you’re using pops of aqua, instead of just red/green/gold. It’s got a modern “it’s cold outside!” vibe.
And, yes, keeping it simple is the key. I have a large piece of art on canvas that sits above my mantel, and I chose the colors knowing they’d look great not only in summer but, with accessorizing, at Christmas time, too. Everything has to do double duty.

Beautiful and charming! I found the Utensils Command hooks this year too! They work great for the garland on my staircase railing.

Thanks for sharing about the Command hooks! After reading your blog, I found some at Target and have put them on my mantle to hold our stockings. It worked great!! Becky, please keep doing what you’re doing…

Where did you get the stung mittens? They would be perfect for an advent thing.
