I love diffusing essential oils in the home to create a mood, offer an uplifting scent, or just to get my home to smell like something other than what I made for dinner the night before. I also use essential oils in my cleaners. My most used scent combination? Lemon + Clove. But I also like to mix things up and add a little pine to the mix to give our home that Christmas tree scent. Here’s a super simple, but delightful blend that I’ve been diffusing this month.
The perfect autumn scent?
WHITE FIR (or another pine-y scent)
CLOVE
If you’re diffusing, use the recommended drops for your diffuser – I use equal parts of each oil but you can play with the ratio.
I’m loving this diffuser that you see pictured – it’s small but fills our first floor with whatever I’m diffusing. I love the twinkle light look and feel of its design. Here’s a larger one with the similar look and feel.
Here’s a link to the perfect autumn diffusing blend – this works anytime!
The rule of thumb for scenting DIY cleaners is 3-10 drops of essential oil per 16 ounces of liquid. Here are a couple recipes to get you started with – simply substitute this scent combo for the one in the recipe:
Nightly Kitchen Sink Scrub
Laminate Floor Cleaner
Fabric Sanitizer Spray
Non-Vinegar Hardwood Floor Cleaner
Vinegar Hardwood Floor Cleaner
Window + Mirror Cleaning Spray
Marble + Granite Cleaning Spray
All-Purpose Disinfecting Cleaner
All Purpose Spray
Laundry – soften + freshen

Are you still using doTerra oils? How do those compare to Plant Therapy? I’m shopping around. I like the doTerra oils, but don’t like the way they handle some of the business side of things (like charging you money to use the points you earn from buying their products).

I’ve used Doterra for years but also got tired of the high shipping and getting charged for using “free” points. I tried Plant Therapy for a while with mixed results. Some of the oils where great and some not so great when compared to Doterra. Edens Garden has more consistent quality in my opinion. Revive is another essential oil company I’m exploring. All the above mentioned companies offer free shipping and GC/MS test results. Hope this helps!

I love the look of your diffuser! The diffuser that I have only fills my kitchen area. I am looking for one that would be powerful enough to fill my kitchen and family room area. The two areas are almost one big room. Do you think the one you have would work or should I go with the bigger one that you mentioned in your post. I am new to essential oils so any help you can give me would be appreciated.

What brand are those oils? I didn’t find a white fir in Plant Therapy’s line…
Thank you

Hubby and my grown granddaughter are allergic to scents. I was so excited to get a couple diffusers…one for each end of the house. Then, they started feeling all stuff, and I realized they were allergic! I gave the diffusers to my grown daughter. Alas, my house lost that lovely smell!!! I still uses Mrs. Meyers lavendar hand soap, dishwashing soap, and kitchen counter spray, so I get SOME of my favorite scent…lavendar!!!
