Week 2 – Simply Clean Declutter Challenge
We’re two weeks into January and the Simply Clean Declutter Challenge – how are you doing? I’m doing this challenge right along with you and I can tell you that it’s already making a difference in our home. January is the perfect time for a little decluttering because you probably already feel motivated for it AND it’s the perfect time for a little fresh start. It’s not too late to join in on the decluttering fun – start on the day that you feel like it and move ahead with us OR catch up with a couple mini-sessions.
Here’s what you need to do – choose a place or places to follow along:
- Instagram or Facebook – I post my cleaning routine daily in both of these places and am also posting the challenge every morning
- my private Homekeeping Society Facebook page (just request to be added). If you need a friendly little reminder to show up in your feed so you get off your phone and get rid of something, follow along 🙂
- off the grid? grab the checklist (the link is below) and work away 🙂
Looking for a simpler approach to homekeeping? Pre-order my NEW book Simply Clean! It will change the way you clean!
Here’s WEEK 2:
DAY 8 – Declutter Magazines and Catalogs: Personally I LOVE magazines and have to keep my ‘collection’ to a minimum. I keep a basket in the family room and whatever fits gets to stay. It keeps me on top of the reading and subscriptions and makes for a cute storage solution.
DAY 9 – Books: Curate what you have and give away or donate what you no longer use and love.
DAY 10 – Refrigerator + Freezer: Declutter the refrigerator and freezer – if you’re short on time, just do one. Empty, wipe clean, and toss anything expired or old and return the good stuff back to its place.
DAY 11 – Food Storage Containers: Completely empty the space you keep food storage containers, wipe the space clean, and toss anything that you don’t need/use anymore and put the containers back in place.
DAY 12 – Declutter your Kitchen Counters: Remove everything, wipe the counters clean, and relocate and/or toss anything that you don’t need/use anymore and put the good stuff back in place.
DAY 13 – Declutter Small Appliances: Remove what you no longer use, sort what you want to keep, and put the small appliances you use at least weekly where you can easily access them.
DAY 14 – Kitchen Drawers : Today’s task is to declutter at least one kitchen drawer. Remove what you no longer use, sort what you want to keep, and put back what you want to keep. Group like items together and put things back in a way that’s easy to keep tidy.
The Simply Clean Decluttering Challenge is intended as a way to encourage daily decluttering and slow and steady progress. You’ll get what you put into it – I promise that even if you just do a little decluttering, you’ll be closer to having a decluttered home than you were before you started. Keep going and enjoy the process!
