We’re three weeks into January and the Simply Clean Declutter Challenge – how are you doing? I’m doing this challenge right along with you and I can tell you that it’s already making a difference in our home. January is the perfect time for a little decluttering because you probably already feel motivated for it AND it’s the perfect time for a little fresh start. It’s not too late to join in on the decluttering fun – start on the day that you feel like it and move ahead with us OR catch up with a couple mini-sessions.

Here’s what you need to do – choose a place or places to follow along:

  • Instagram  or Facebook – I post my cleaning routine daily in both of these places and am also posting the challenge every morning
  • my private Homekeeping Society Facebook page (just request to be added). If you need a friendly little reminder to show up in your feed so you get off your phone and get rid of something, follow along 🙂
  • off the grid? grab the checklist (the link is below) and work away 🙂

Here’s what we’ve already decluttered:

Week 1
Week 2

Here’s WEEK 3:

DAY 15 – Kitchen Cupboards:  Declutter at least one kitchen cupboard. Remove what you no longer use, sort what you want to keep, and put back what you want to keep. Group like items together and put things back in a way that’s easy to keep tidy.

DAY 16 – Under the Kitchen Sink: Declutter under the kitchen sink. Take everything out, toss what you no longer use, sort what you want to keep, and group like items together and put things back in a way that’s easy to keep tidy. I use containers and a lazy susan to keep things neat under the sink – it’s so helpful!

DAY 17 – Kitchen Towels:  Declutter those kitchen towels. Want a neat and tidy dish towel drawer? Empty it out, lose any tattered towels, group like dish towels together, fold in thirds and then in thirds again. Then put them back standing up.

DAY 18 – Laundry Area: Declutter your laundry area. Lose any products you no longer use, simplify your supplies, and contain like items together. Wipe down your washer and dryer and if you’re feeling really ambitious put it on the clean cycle let the washer do the washing.

DAY 19 – Catch up on Laundry: Take today to get caught up on laundry. Work methodically and get everything all caught up.

DAY 20 – Declutter Bath and Shower Products: Remove what you no longer use, sort what you want to keep, and put the bath and shower products back that you use.

DAY 21 – Declutter Makeup and Toiletries: Declutter all your makeup and toiletries. Remove what you no longer use, sort what you want to keep, and put back what you want to keep. Group like items together and put things back in a way that’s easy to keep tidy.

The Simply Clean Decluttering Challenge is intended as a way to encourage daily decluttering and slow and steady progress. You’ll get what you put into it – I promise that even if you just do a little decluttering, you’ll be closer to having a decluttered home than you were before you started. Keep going and enjoy the process!
