Quick Clean : Lemon Disposal Cleaner
If you have a garbage disposal or kitchen drain you know it can get a little stinky from time to time. I have a simple, 2 ingredient DIY solution that you can probably whip up today. If you want to add this to your routine, use this weekly.
Lemon Disposal Cleaner
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup lemon juice (fresh or in a jar)
Mix the baking soda and lemon juice together to make a pasty liquid.
The liquid will start fizzing – quickly pour down the disposal.
Let it sit for at least 5 minutes. Run cold water and turn on the disposal and run for up to a minute. If you’re following along with the Spring Clean in 30 Challenge, this is today’s task – hooray!

Your site has been incredibly helpful – thank you.
We recently renovated a home and are starting a farm. We are on a septic system, and because of that our plumber was set against installing a garbage disposal to keep our pipes healthy. Will this recipe work without that disposal step?

Post authorIt should – Try a half sized batch to test it out 🙂

Our garbage disposal broke a few months ago and our awesome landlord won’t replace it cause he says it’s a “luxury item” so now our kitchen stinks. Could I pour a half batch down it to help the smell?

A Parmesan Cheese container lid fits a mason jar. I like it because it’s a shaker top and you can seal it.
